The role
As a Communications Business Partner, you’ll join our global Communications function, partnering with teams across the United Kingdom and overseas to deliver impactful communications that support business growth, operational success, and strategic priorities. This is an exciting opportunity to influence how Babcock communicates with colleagues, customers, stakeholders, media, and communities while contributing to projects that make a real difference to national security and critical infrastructure. You’ll play a key role in shaping communications campaigns, strengthening our brand, enhancing stakeholder engagement, and helping tell the stories behind some of the most important engineering and defence programmes in the world. Along the way, you’ll have the opportunity to develop your strategic communications expertise within a dynamic and purpose-driven organisation. This role is based at Rosyth or Devonport and is 37.5 hours per week. Flexible working patterns are available.
Day‑to‑day responsibilities
- Leading, advising, and delivering communications campaigns that support operational priorities and business development activity.
- Developing and executing public relations and media engagement activity across local, trade, and industry media channels.
- Acting as a brand champion, ensuring communications align with Babcock’s brand standards and corporate messaging.
- Collaborating with communications colleagues and business stakeholders to deliver integrated internal and external communications plans.
- Supporting and delivering corporate events and engagement activities across the United Kingdom and internationally.
Essential experience
- Experience building relationships and engaging effectively with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience in public relations and working with media and external audiences.
- Strong understanding of internal communications and its role in driving organisational change and business objectives.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including copywriting, editing, message development, and audience engagement.
- Experience within the defence sector or a closely related industry.
Qualifications
- Degree, Higher National Diploma, Higher National Certificate, or equivalent qualification in Marketing Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Creative Writing, or a related discipline.
- Significant experience working within a corporate communications function or communications agency environment.
Security clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
