The role
As a Buyer within our Marine Engineering & Systems business, you will play a key role in delivering strategic procurement and facilities management solutions that support complex and high‑profile projects. This is an exciting opportunity to influence project success through effective sourcing, supplier management and contract delivery, ensuring best value while minimising risk. Day‑to‑day responsibilities
- Conduct supplier due diligence and support the development of technical specifications for market engagement.
- Prepare, issue and evaluate Invitations to Tender, Requests for Quotations and Requests for Information.
- Deliver bid evaluations, commercial comparisons and recommendations that consider total cost of ownership.
- Negotiate, draft and manage contracts, amendments and extensions, including NEC4-based agreements.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and site‑specific policies and procedures.
This is a 36‑hour per week role based at Rosyth. Hybrid working patterns are available, with two days per week onsite.
Essential experience
- Demonstrable experience applying procurement and facilities management principles and best practice.
- Good understanding of contract terms and conditions, including the management of flow‑down customer requirements.
- Experience working within a facilities management or site‑based operational environment.
- Knowledge of day‑to‑day facilities management operations and commercial delivery.
- Experience using procurement systems, e‑Tendering platforms, contract management tools and cost estimation software.
Qualifications
Essential
- MCIPS accreditation, a relevant degree, or equivalent professional experience.
- Proven experience developing procurement strategies and leading complex procurement projects.
- Experience managing contract delivery within facilities management, manufacturing or related sectors.
Desirable
- Knowledge of NEC4 contracts.
- Experience working within defence, engineering or major infrastructure environments.
