The role:
- As a Company Fire Officer, you’ll have an opportunity to make a real impact on national security while developing your leadership and technical expertise in a dynamic and rewarding setting.
- Day‑to‑day, you’ll act as a competent advisor on all fire safety matters, ensuring compliance with legislation and driving continual improvement in safety, health, and environmental standards.
- Acting as the competent advisor on fire safety matters in line with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
- Conducting fire risk assessments and maintaining compliance across the site.
- Reviewing building and fire system alterations to ensure standards are met.
- Developing and organising emergency response exercises with MOD and external agencies.
- Leading a small team of fire safety professionals and setting training standards.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.
Essential experience of the Company Fire Officer:
- Extensive previous fire safety experience in a hazardous industry (e.g., construction, heavy manufacturing).
- Proven leadership and management experience.
- Strong knowledge of fire safety legislation and compliance standards.
Qualifications for the Company Fire Officer:
- Level 5 qualification in a fire safety-related discipline (or working towards).
- Current Level 4 Fire Risk Assessor qualification.
- Leadership and SHE auditing qualifications - Desirable.
- Ambition to achieve Chartered status with IOSH or the Institute of Fire Engineers.
Security Clearance:
The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. Many of the positions within our company are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions.
