The role

As a Data Analyst, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll play a vital role in advancing how we use data to support the UK Royal Navy Surface Fleet and wider defence operations. This is more than analysis — you’ll help shape intelligent tools, deliver data‑driven insights, and contribute to innovative solutions that enable critical decision‑making at every level.

Day‑to‑day, you’ll be required to:

  • Collect, prepare, and validate data to ensure it is accurate and fit for purpose
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data needs and translate requirements into solutions
  • Design and deliver dashboards, visualisations, and analytical tools
  • Build and analyse data models to support insight generation and decision‑making
  • Communicate findings clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences

This is a full‑time role working 35 hours per week based at Devonport Dockyard site. Hybrid working patterns are available. You will be working a minimum of two days a week onsite.

Essential experience of the Data Analyst

  • Experience working in a regulated environment with diverse stakeholder groups
  • Experience with data visualisation tools and Extract, Transform and Load processes
  • Experience applying statistical methods and data analysis techniques
  • Demonstrated problem‑solving skills with the ability to balance theory and practical outcomes
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

Qualifications for the Data Analyst

  • A degree in Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Management, Statistics, or equivalent relevant experience

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) / Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. Many of the positions within our company are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions.
