The role
As a Planning Engineer, you play a vital role in the successful planning, coordination and delivery of complex, highly regulated engineering programmes. You provide accurate, assured schedules that enable sound decision‑making, effective risk management and on‑time delivery across major nuclear projects. You will be supporting the Sizewell C programme, one of the UK’s largest and most nationally significant nuclear infrastructure projects. This is a full‑time role, working 37 hours per week, based in Bristol. Hybrid working patterns are available, supporting flexibility while ensuring close collaboration with delivery teams.
Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:
- Developing and maintaining integrated project schedules using Primavera P6, aligned to governance and planning standards
- Analysing progress, forecast data, critical path and schedule risk to identify trends, threats and opportunities
- Supporting delivery teams by reviewing contractor and supplier schedules and monthly progress submissions
- Producing clear planning reports, dashboards and visuals for project managers and stakeholders
- Collaborating with engineering, procurement, construction and commercial teams to deliver joined‑up planning solutions
Essential experience of the Planning Engineer:
- Proven experience working as a Planning Engineer or Project Planner on complex programmes
- Experience operating within highly regulated environments such as nuclear, energy, infrastructure, rail or defence
- Strong hands‑on experience using Primavera P6
- Experience reviewing contractor or supplier schedules and progress updates
- Experience providing planning insight, analysis and reporting to delivery teams
Qualifications for the Planning Engineer:
- Degree in Engineering, Construction, Project Management or a related discipline (desirable)
- Recognised project management or planning qualification (such as APM), or equivalent experience
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
