The Role
As a Senior Project Manager, you’ll lead complex and high‑profile engineering projects that directly support critical defence communications for the Royal Air Force. This is an opportunity to shape the success of a major new programme within Mission Systems, a place where advanced engineering meets real‑world impact. You’ll guide multidisciplinary teams, build trusted relationships with our customer, and ensure that essential communication capabilities remain reliable, secure, and ready to support national defence. It’s meaningful work that will elevate your leadership skills, sharpen your technical and commercial experience, and position you at the forefront of one of the most dynamic areas of defence engineering.
Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:
- Lead end‑to‑end delivery of complex engineering projects across the full project lifecycle.
- Coordinate delivery teams to ensure cost, time, and quality requirements are met.
- Support requirement capture, scoping, technical/commercial solutions, and pricing proposals.
- Apply effective risk and change management to protect project performance.
- Deliver and manage customer performance data, including KPIs and SLAs.
This role is full time, 37 hours per week and is based onsite at Leeming, North Yorkshire (with 1 day per week at Skelton and the option of 1 day working from home).
Essential experience of the Senior Project Manager:
- Significant experience applying project management techniques in a technical project environment.
- Experience leading and motivating multidisciplinary project teams.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects with differing demands and deadlines.
- Strong financial management skills to support profitable project delivery.
- Experience working with internal teams and external suppliers to deliver effective solutions.
Desirable Qualifications for the Senior Project Manager:
- APM PMQ or equivalent project management qualification.
- Chartered status or equivalent professional recognition.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
