The role

As Global Engineering Lead - Systems and Tools you'll play a pivotal role in driving engineering excellence across Babcock's international business. This is a unique opportunity to influence how engineering is delivered at scale by leading the development, governance and optimisation of engineering systems, software and tools used across multiple disciplines and sectors. You’ll be at the forefront of ensuring our engineers have access to the right technologies, processes and best practices to deliver complex solutions that support defence, aerospace and critical infrastructure programmes. Working with specialists across the organisation, you'll champion innovation, standardisation and collaboration, helping engineering teams work more effectively regardless of location.

Day-to-day you’ll be responsible for:

  • Leading the governance and development of Babcock's engineering software and tools portfolio.
  • Driving consistent engineering standards, methodologies and best practice across multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Managing engineering software capability requirements, supplier relationships and procurement activities in collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Developing and supporting training programmes, user communities and subject matter expert networks to maximise tool effectiveness.
  • Influencing and coordinating cross-functional teams to deliver standardised engineering solutions across the organisation.

This role is full time, 37.5 hours per week and can be based at any of our main UK locations. Hybrid working patterns are available.

Essential Experience:

  • Demonstrable engineering experience within a large, complex or global organisation.
  • Strong understanding of engineering software applications and their practical use across multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Experience translating complex business and engineering requirements into strategic technology or toolset solutions.
  • Proven ability to lead, influence and collaborate with subject matter experts to drive organisational change and standardisation.
  • Practical experience delivering engineering projects and understanding the challenges of engineering delivery in a complex environment.

Qualifications:

  • Essential: Degree qualified in an engineering discipline.
  • Desirable: Chartered Engineer status or progression towards professional registration. Leadership, systems engineering or engineering management qualifications.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) and Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
