The Role:
- Provide legal support to all areas of the Land and UK Aviation Sector.
- Offer legal advice and guidance to all Sector business units on a range of matters, including general corporate and commercial issues, specific regulatory legal advice, and adherence to internal policies and external legal compliance regimes.
- Advise bid, commercial and procurement teams; draft and advise on complex commercial contracts and related disputes.
- Support the development of internal business processes and implementation of compliance programmes.
- Produce legal reporting in accordance with internal governance requirements.
- Create, maintain and update template legal documents, reflecting changes in business, legislative and regulatory requirements.
- Support other Sectors within the Babcock Group when required.
- Provide contract negotiation, management and dispute resolution advice to internal customers.
- Deliver training to bid, commercial and procurement colleagues.
This role is full time, 37 hours per week and requires you to be within reach of our Bristol office. There is also an expectation to travel across a range of internal and customer sites when required, alongside home working arrangements.
Essential Experience:
- One to four years of post-qualified experience.
- Strong commercial and contract law knowledge, developed in private practice or in-house at a large organisation.
- Proficiency in drafting, reviewing, negotiating and interpreting long‑term, complex contracts on a range of subjects, including contracts for goods and services, commercial and Government framework agreements, non‑disclosure and teaming agreements, and corporate documentation.
- Experience in technology, IT (including SaaS and licensing agreements) law and protection of Intellectual Property Rights in new and innovative solutions is highly desirable but not essential.
- Knowledge of Defence and/or wider Government contracting policy and approach is beneficial.
- Knowledge of public contracting regulations would be advantageous.
Qualifications:
- English law qualified Chartered Legal Executive or Solicitor.
Security Clearance:
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. Many of the positions within our company are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions, which can affect eligibility based on place of birth, nationality, citizenship status, and residency.
