The role involves providing expert guidance across infrastructure and facilities, ensuring compliance with legislation and driving continuous improvement in safety performance. You will play a key role in shaping a proactive safety culture, supporting operational teams, and making a meaningful impact on national defence capabilities.
Day-to-day, you will be responsible for:
- Providing professional health and safety advice to operational teams and stakeholders
- Conducting workplace inspections and assessments to identify hazards and improve safety standards
- Leading investigations into incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending actions
- Supporting audits and ensuring corrective and preventative actions are implemented effectively
- Engaging with teams and committees to promote best practice and continuous improvement
The role is full time, 37 hours per week, based on-site at HMNB Clyde, working an eight-day fortnight - day shift Monday to Thursday, plus every second Friday, working from 7.15am to 4.45pm.
Essential experience:
- Proven experience in a Health & Safety role within facilities management, construction, or infrastructure environments
- Strong background in statutory compliance and building compliance, with the ability to interpret and apply H&S legislation in operational settings
- Experience supporting or working within construction/Construction, Design and Management (CDM) environments, including contractor and site safety management
- Experience conducting audits, inspections, and incident investigations
- Experience working with safety management systems and reporting tools
Qualifications:
- NEBOSH General Certificate (essential)
- Working towards a Health and Safety degree or NEBOSH Diploma (desirable)
Security Clearance:
The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
