This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly skilled engineering environment supporting some of the United Kingdom’s most important defence assets. Working at the heart of Fleet Engineering, you'll contribute to the maintenance, availability and performance of submarines, surface vessels and essential estate infrastructure that support national security.
The role
As an Engineering Support Multi Skilled Operative, you'll provide vital multi-skilled support to Fleet Engineering teams, helping to deliver planned maintenance activities and supporting the identification and resolution of engineering defects. Your work will directly contribute to operational readiness and asset availability while giving you the opportunity to develop valuable skills within a world-class engineering and defence organisation.
Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:
- Support engineering teams to deliver planned preventative maintenance activities safely and efficiently.
- Assist with the identification and rectification of system, manufacturing and equipment defects across fleet and estate assets.
- Operate and handle engineering support equipment in accordance with approved procedures and safe systems of work.
- Maintain compliance with health, safety and environmental requirements, including control of work processes.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and support continuous improvement initiatives across the department.
This is a full-time, permanent role based on-site at HMNB Clyde working 36 hours per week, Monday to Thursday.
Essential experience of the Engineering Support Multi Skilled Operative
- Experience supporting engineering, maintenance or operational activities within an industrial, marine, engineering or defence environment.
- Experience working with engineering support equipment such as scaffolding, forklift truck operations or slinging activities.
- Knowledge of manual handling practices and safe working procedures.
- Experience following risk assessments, COSHH requirements and safe systems of work.
- Experience controlling, issuing and returning work equipment in a regulated environment.
Qualifications for the Engineering Support Multi Skilled Operative
- Confined Spaces for Competent Persons certification.
- Occasional Climber/Working at Heights certification.
- Pristine Manual Handling certification.
- Radiation Worker Training certification.
- Full UK Driving Licence (Category B).

The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
