Role Type: Full time / Permanent

Lead commercial performance across complex rail contracts. A senior commercial leadership role with responsibility for driving profitability, managing risk, and strengthening client and supply‑chain relationships across a portfolio of rail works.

The role:

  • Lead the commercial management of a portfolio of rail works, ensuring profitability and compliance.
  • Manage cost control, revenue, forecasting, and cash collection processes.
  • Oversee contracts, change control, and claim to protect the company’s commercial position.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Lead, coach, and develop commercial team members to drive high performance.

This is a full‑time, permanent role, working 35 hours per week, with a hybrid pattern of three days on site at Cadder Yard, Scotland and two days working from home.

Essential experience of the Commercial Manager:

  • Strong commercial leadership experience within construction, rail, or infrastructure environments.
  • Proven ability to manage complex contracts and commercial risk.
  • Confident communicator and negotiator, able to influence at all levels.
  • Commercially astute with a proactive, solutions‑focused mindset.

Qualifications for the Commercial Manager:

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent qualification.
  • Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or working towards (desirable).
