The role involves ensuring fleet operations remain legally compliant, safe, environmentally responsible, and aligned with customer requirements. Working within a highly regulated environment, you'll help drive compliance, assurance, and continuous improvement across a significant fleet operation. You'll work closely with the Fleet Engineering & Compliance Manager and wider fleet leadership team, supporting vehicle specification management, compliance systems, safety controls, environmental performance monitoring, and audit readiness.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a technical vehicle or engineering background who wants to broaden their expertise within fleet compliance and operational assurance.

Day-to-day, you will be:

  • Managing vehicle specifications and supporting fleet build activities to meet customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitoring compliance systems, safety controls, and environmental performance across fleet operations.
  • Supporting audit readiness activities and ensuring compliance documentation is maintained and up to date.
  • Collaborating with fleet leadership and technical stakeholders to ensure alignment with engineering standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives that enhance compliance, safety, and operational performance.

Essential experience includes:

  • Technical background in vehicle maintenance, transport operations, or engineering supported by relevant practical experience.
  • Understanding of fleet compliance, safety, or regulatory requirements within a vehicle-based environment.
  • Knowledge of environmental and sustainability principles.
  • Ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders across operational and technical teams.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and keeping pace with legislative and industry changes.

Qualifications include:

  • IOSH Managing Safely, NEBOSH General Certificate, or equivalent qualification.
  • Awareness of industry safety standards, including areas such as Health & Safety at Work, LOLER, PUWER, or ADR.
  • Transport Manager CPC qualification, or working towards it (desirable).
  • Awareness of MOD fleet policy, including JSP800 (desirable).

Security Clearance: The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
