Lead financial insight that underpins critical defence programmes.
At Babcock we’re working to create a safe and secure world, together, and if you join us, you can play your part as a Finance Manager at our Babcock Technology Centre site.
The role:
- Provide senior‑level financial leadership to complex, defence‑critical submarine programmes within Babcock’s Nuclear Sector.
- Operate in a demanding environment governed by Ministry of Defence contracting rules, where strong judgement, credibility and commercial acumen are essential.
- Influence strategic decision‑making through robust forecasting, earned value management and performance reporting.
- Support new contract proposals and continuous improvement of financial processes.
- Produce monthly accounts in line with company procedures and strict reporting deadlines.
- Deliver performance and forecasting reports to senior leaders and Directors.
- Support earned value management and estimates at completion for Ministry of Defence contracts.
- Provide financial leadership to project teams, including budgeting and quarterly forecasts.
- Lead and develop team members, while deputising for the Head of Finance when required.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 – 3 days per week in the office/onsite.
Essential experience:
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and Office skills, with the ability to turn complex data into clear insight.
- Strong analytical capability, able to communicate concise messages to senior stakeholders.
- Proven experience delivering to tight deadlines in a pressured environment.
- Confident communicator and collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills.
- Highly organised, proactive and disciplined in financial processes.
Qualifications:
- Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA or ACA).
Security Clearance:
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. Many of the positions within our company are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions.
