The role:
As a Senior Buyer, you'll play a key role in delivering procurement excellence across major marine and defence programmes. Working within a dynamic supply chain and procurement team, you'll lead purchasing activities, manage supplier relationships and help ensure the efficient delivery of products and services that support vital national infrastructure and defence capabilities. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced procurement professional to influence high-value commercial decisions, drive supplier performance and contribute to projects of national importance. You'll collaborate with stakeholders across the business, develop your commercial expertise and build a rewarding career within a global engineering and technology organisation.
Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:
- Deliver an efficient requisition-to-order service, including purchase order placement, order management and supplier expediting.
- Drive improvements in procurement performance, including lead times, supplier delivery and invoice accuracy.
- Manage supplier relationships, performance reviews, key performance indicators and service level agreements.
- Lead sourcing activities, supplier negotiations and spot purchasing requirements to secure best value outcomes.
- Prepare procurement documentation including invitations to tender, contract documentation, business cases and stakeholder presentations.
This role is 37 hours per week, based at Rosyth. Hybrid working patterns are available.
Essential experience of the Senior Buyer:
- Experience managing end-to-end procurement, purchasing or supply chain activities within a complex commercial environment.
- Experience writing and delivering Invitations to Tender and supporting contract development and management.
- Strong understanding of commercial contract terms, conditions and supplier negotiations.
- Experience working with enterprise resource planning systems such as IFS, SAP or Oracle and modern e-procurement tools.
- Experience managing supplier performance, stakeholder engagement and procurement process improvement.
Qualifications for the Senior Buyer:
- Degree qualified or able to demonstrate an equivalent level of knowledge through relevant professional experience.
