The role
As a Piping Designer, you’ll play a vital role in delivering complex engineering solutions that support critical defence infrastructure. Working as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team, you’ll create and develop detailed piping designs that contribute to the safety, efficiency, and sustainability of major projects. This is an exciting opportunity to work on high-impact programmes, helping to maintain and modernise essential systems while building your own technical expertise and career in defence, aerospace, and engineering.
Responsibilities
- Producing detailed piping layouts and 3D models using industry-standard design software
- Developing and reviewing technical drawings, ensuring compliance with design standards and specifications
- Collaborating with engineers and project teams to deliver integrated, high-quality design solutions
- Supporting design reviews and resolving technical queries throughout the project lifecycle
- Maintaining accurate documentation and ensuring all work meets safety, quality, and regulatory standards
This is a full-time role at 37 hours per week based at Rosyth, Fife. Hybrid working patterns are available.
Essential experience
- Demonstrating experience in piping design within an engineering or industrial environment
- Using 2D and 3D CAD tools such as AutoCAD or similar design software
- Interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and technical standards
- Working effectively within multidisciplinary teams to deliver complex projects
- Applying a strong understanding of design processes, safety, and quality requirements
Qualifications
- HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- A degree in Engineering (or working towards) would be advantageous

The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who is able to achieve and maintain BPSS security clearance for this role.
