The role:

As a Sub-contracts Manager, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. At Babcock, much of what we do for our customers involves an element of supply chain management; our suppliers play a critical role in enabling us to fulfil our commitments and live up to our purpose, to ‘Create a safe and secure world, together’. Day-to-day, you’ll be accountable for the delivery of robust, effective and innovative sub-contract agreements in support of delivering excellent outcomes for our military and emergency services customer base, whilst identifying and mitigating commercial risk to Babcock.

You’ll also:

  • Procurement lead for capital expenditure of assets and/or equipment across Through Life Equipment Support (TLES) business unit, supporting operations to deliver on investment pipeline
  • Delivery of complex sub-contract services procurement projects
  • Management of key supplier relationships and the critical escalation point of contact
  • Stakeholder management and effective integration with senior members of staff across the TLES business unit
  • Stakeholder engagement with senior representatives from our Military and Emergency Services customer base

Please note that this position involves travel/working across a range of internal and customer sites, as a requirement of the role. This role is full time, 37.5 hours per week and can be delivered from any Defence Support Group (DSG) site alongside home working arrangements. Regular travel across sites is required as part of the role.

Essential experience:

  • Extensive experience in a commercially focused equivalent role, with prior exposure to varying contracting approaches and templates
  • Extensive experience of managing high value and/or complexity capital purchases, including drafting and negotiation of robust sub-contract agreements to protect the business whilst achieving optimum value for money
  • Extensive experience of procurement, negotiation, and mobilisation of robust services sub-contract agreements
  • Contract Management experience across a broad portfolio in relevant market sector, including managing commercial disputes through to satisfactory resolution
  • Exposure to Military or Emergency Services customers

Qualifications:

  • Member of Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (MCIPS) or equivalent professional experience
