The role:

As a Senior Business Manager, you will take on a pivotal leadership role with real influence over how a complex business unit performs and grows. This is far more than a planning role – you’ll have responsibility for operational delivery, commercial performance, and strategic direction, balancing immediate priorities with long-term growth. You will work at the heart of critical nuclear programmes, supporting small and advanced modular reactor initiatives that are shaping the future of energy and national resilience. This is your opportunity to lead diverse teams, optimise performance, and build strong customer relationships in a highly regulated, high-impact environment.

Day-to-day, you will be required to:

  • Lead multi-disciplinary teams to deliver operational performance against budgets, schedules, and key performance indicators.
  • Manage financial performance, including planning, forecasting, and driving profitability across the business unit.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships while supporting bids and contract delivery activities.
  • Coordinate business planning and reporting to provide clear, data-driven insights for decision‑making.
  • Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and overall performance.

This role is full time, 37 hours per week, and can be based in Bristol, Warrington or Leicester. Hybrid working arrangements are available.

Essential experience of the Senior Business Manager:

  • Proven experience managing or influencing profit and loss, budgets, and financial performance.
  • Experience delivering multiple projects or contracts simultaneously within a complex environment.
  • Strong track record of leading and developing high‑performing teams.
  • Ability to drive operational efficiency, performance improvement, and resource optimisation.
  • Experience managing customer relationships and commercial outcomes within regulated sectors such as nuclear, defence, or infrastructure.

Qualifications for the Senior Business Manager:

  • A qualification in a relevant technical or project management discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Security Clearance: The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.

What we offer:

  • Generous holiday allowance.
  • Matched contribution pension scheme, with life assurance.
  • Access to a Digital GP, annual health check, and nutritional consultations through Aviva DigiCare+.
  • Employee share scheme.
  • Employee shopping savings portal.
  • Payment of Professional Fees.
  • Reservists in the armed forces receive 10-days special paid leave.
  • Holiday Trading is a benefit that allows UK Cavendish employees to buy additional leave or to sell up to one working week of annual leave from their annual entitlement.
  • ‘Be Kind Day’ enables employees to take one working day's paid leave a year (or equivalent hours) to undertake volunteering work with their chosen organisation or registered charity.
  • Excellent development opportunities and benefits package including an employee assistance programme supporting physical, mental and financial wellbeing.
