Technical Responsibilities:
- Breaking down business specification into its simplest elements and translating this logic into an efficient technical design.
- Devising possible solutions to anticipated problems.
- Combining all elements of the technical design and progressing through build to testing and execution.
- Reacting to problems and correcting the design as necessary.
- Evaluating and increasing the business process and technical designs’ effectiveness.
- Adapting the design to new requirements, as necessary.
- Writing detailed documentation for the client and internal operations.
As a Lead:
- Line management and personal development of a team of highly skilled data developers.
- Overseeing the technical delivery of multiple complex development projects involving multiple complex data sources, from design through to release.
- Estimating resource requirements from work requests and providing updates to delivery teams.
- Working closely with Project Managers and Business Analysts to produce accurate delivery estimates and helping ensure the transition from analysis through to design and delivery.
- Understanding and reporting the impact of change on design and delivery plans.
- Providing regular and effective progress updates to and working closely with Project Managers/Senior Management to ensure the management of any delivery risks or issues.
- Participating in reviews and meetings and providing updates on project progress.
- Taking responsibility for ensuring that risks and issues are identified and managed.
- Supporting project resource scheduling and department capacity planning.
Position Requirements:
- Experienced developer with extensive knowledge of using disparate data sources.
- Able to assist in the ongoing design of technical best practice for the development of data movement, data cleansing, data quality, data governance and other ETL/ELT related activities.
- Experience in data modelling and modern data design.
- Extensive knowledge of SSIS/SSRS/SSAS or similar technology.
- Some knowledge of C#/VB, ideally having built CLR code or custom SSIS components.
- Exposure to REST/SOAP Web Services.
- Experience in troubleshooting, performance tuning and optimisation of ETL packages.
- Very strong SQL skills; queries, stored procedures, window functions, etc.
- Good knowledge of data quality and cleansing techniques to ensure and maintain data integrity.
- Experience in the use of Azure DevOps or similar source control technologies.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Understanding of Waterfall and Agile development methodologies.
- Experience in mentoring/coaching junior staff.
- An understanding of the C&R Debt Manager platform will be highly advantageous.
- Educated to degree level in an IT related discipline.
