In this role you will lead a small accounting team to ensure accurate, compliant financial reporting across ledgers, AP, AR, and entity-specific statutory packs. You will bridge US GAAP with Local GAAP across EMEA entities, drive month-end close, and implement process improvements. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams, support new entities and restructurings, and provide coaching to develop an effective, compliant accounting function aligned with Wesco’s growth and governance standards. This is a hands-on leadership role at a Fortune 500 company with global scope and impactful financial stewardship.
Responsibilities
- Supervise day-to-day accounting operations for one or more functions (AP, AR, ledger maintenance, revenue and asset accounting)
- Prepare journal entries, assist monthly closing, and generate accounting reports
- Ensure data integrity and reconcile general ledger accounts monthly
- Create statutory financials for various EMEA entities and bridge US GAAP to Local GAAP
- Review statutory packs of other accountants and support mergers, reorganisations, and new entities
- Lead and develop staff, assign and evaluate work, and drive process improvements
- Oversee the accounting system and implement enhancements; lead foreign exchange analysis for EMEA
- Prepare reconciliations and variance analysis; respond to inquiries and facilitate external audits
- Coordinate special accounting projects and maintain internal controls and documentation
- Ensure timely completion of tasks and maintain cooperative internal relationships
Key requirements
- Bachelor Degree - Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5 years of accounting experience
- 1+ years of supervisory experience (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and local GAAP requirements (EMEA, Dutch GAAP ideal)
- Experience with Oracle Cloud Services (GL, AHCS, ARCS, EPBCS, FCCS) and Smartview / Essbase
- Proficiency with Microsoft packages, Mainframe systems and Access databases
- Experience with external audits and stakeholder management
- Ability to work flexibly during month/year end
- Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills
