We are seeking an accomplished and commercially astute Depot Manager to lead our Widnes depot.

This pivotal role offers the chance to take full responsibility for the operational excellence and sustained profitability of a key site.

You will oversee all depot operations, inspire and manage a high‑performing team, uphold health and safety standards, and ensure every customer experiences exceptional service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee day‑to‑day depot operations to ensure smooth and efficient service.
  • Lead, motivate and develop depot staff, creating a positive working environment.
  • Maintain the highest professional standards for the depot.
  • Hold full P&L responsibility for depot performance.
  • Support sales growth alongside Regional Sales and Major Account Managers.
  • Respond to enquiries promptly, cost them accurately and profitably.
  • Manage hire contracts from initial enquiry through delivery, hire period and off‑hire.
  • Conduct site surveys and produce sketch drawings when required.
  • Coordinate deliveries, installations and contractor activity to keep projects running smoothly.
  • Ensure fleet preparation, inspections and servicing are completed on time.
  • Monitor depot activity to guarantee equipment availability and efficient turnaround.
  • Ensure purchased materials are cost‑effective and fit for purpose.
  • Maintain the highest standards of health, safety and environmental compliance.
  • Lead by example in promoting safe working practices across the depot.

About You

  • Experience in depot management within the hire industry, ideally in power generation.
  • Strong commercial awareness and financial responsibility.
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills.
  • Proactive, organised and able to handle challenging situations calmly.
  • Commitment to health and safety standards.
  • Positive attitude, resilience and ability to work under pressure.
