The predicted salary is between 34862 - 39435 £ per year.

Contract type: Fixed term 1 year contract initially, 37 hours per week, term time plus 5 INSETs. Hours of work are 8:00am to 4:00pm. The successful candidate will be required to support 2 or 3 calendared evening events throughout the year.

Location: Werneth School, Harrytown, Romiley, Stockport SK6 3BX.

Salary: Scale SO3 22-34 £39,862 - £45,091. Actual salary: £34,862 - £39,435.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated, compassionate and dedicated professional to join our team as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) and Mental Health Lead. This role involves supporting the Designated Safeguarding Lead and Senior Leadership Team in safeguarding practice, ensuring timely and effective support for students. As Mental Health Lead, you will develop and promote a whole-school approach to mental health, support early intervention strategies and lead the school's commitment to emotional wellbeing.

Responsibilities

  • Lead safeguarding practice across the school and ensure that students receive timely and effective support when concerns arise.
  • Develop and deliver safeguarding policy and training for staff, pupils and parents.
  • Adopt and implement a whole‑school approach to mental health and early interventions.
  • Maintain professional safeguarding and mental health knowledge and keep up to date with statutory frameworks.
  • Build positive relationships with students, families and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Collect, analyse and report safeguarding and mental health data to inform decision‑making.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience in safeguarding or mental health within an educational setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Professional safeguarding knowledge and a strong understanding of the challenges facing young people today.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Experience working effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
