The predicted salary is between 1300 - 1600 £ per month.
The chosen candidate will be assigned within a multi-discipline team with tasks to assist in the design and development of new automated medical diagnostic instruments. Responsibilities include designing, prototyping and troubleshooting clever solutions towards next generation and on market products. Candidates will gain experience with both Mechanical and Electrical Engineering.
On the mechanical side, candidates will be asked to create detailed drawings for their solutions using GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and DFM (Design for Manufacturing) methodologies. Proposed designs will be presented to an engineering team allowing candidates to experience design reviews and grow through design iterations. On the Electrical side, candidates will review schematics, rework PCBs, and gain valuable lab experience. This position will provide the candidate knowledge of a full product development lifecycle of a regulated medical device company. The product lifecycle includes prototyping, manufacturing scale-up, and manufacturing operations, all located in-house at the Bedford, MA facility.
The chosen candidate will be exposed to the following software tools:
- Creo formally known as ProEngineer
- ANSYS, an engineering simulation software
- Minitab, a software used for statistical analysis
- Arduino Programming
- Windchill, a product lifecycle management tool
- PADS schematic design tool
- Microsoft Office including Microsoft Visio
The chosen candidate will also be able to further their knowledge in the following topics within Mechanical and Electrical Engineering:
- Material Selection
- Microfluidics
- Automated Assemblies
- Instrument Design
- Plastics Design
- Sheet Metal Design
- Soldering
- Lab equipment (DMMs, Oscilloscopes, Power Supplies, etc.)
- Understanding schematics
- Circuit design
The candidate will be mentored by the Mechanical Engineering Development Team Leader and will be considered an active team member.

Essential Functions:
- Performs experiments, analyzes and interprets numerical data from experiments.
- Summarizes findings by computer readouts, statistical summaries, graphs and other methods.
- Requires confidence in using Microsoft Word and Excel tools.
- Requires enthusiasm, motivation, initiative and ability to work within an interactive and energetic workplace.
- Review process procedures, change orders, equipment specifications, validation plans, and reports.
- Performs market research.
Minimum Knowledge & Experience Required for the Position:
- Currently pursuing B.S. in Engineering, Finance, Business, Marketing with a minimum of 2 college semesters complete.
- Ability to multitask.
