As an Assistant Bodyshop Manager, you will play an integral part in supporting the Bodyshop Manager in the efficient running of the workshop, the job carding of vehicles and the organisation of parts.
Responsibilities of an Assistant Bodyshop Manager will include:
- Work with the Bodyshop Manager to ensure the customers’ expectations are met and the preferred communication method is adhered to.
- Create an image job card and ensure the parts ordering process is followed correctly.
- Ensure Parts accuracy on job cards and aim for one parts order per job wherever possible.
- Ensure all parts on job cards are ordered, received and inventoried correctly.
- Utilise parts storage and systems to ensure that technicians have the parts they need to complete works on time and efficiently.
- Work confidently and effectively with a central parts team and ensure there are minimal delays due to parts.
- Ensure any returns are catalogued and ready for return on completion of jobs with supporting paperwork to ensure that returns are done quickly and effectively.
- Discuss with the customers what repairs we intend to carry out, set the customers’ expectations correctly, advise ECD. Listen to the customers’ requirements and concerns.
- Ensure the customers’ expectations are communicated effectively with the production team and the preferred communication method is logged and adhered to.
- Ensure a good understanding of Service Level Agreements with current insurance partners to meet expectations.
- Ensure workshop documentation is accurate and comprehensive.
- Support the Production Manager in monitoring, maintaining, and improving safety and quality standards, ensuring they are at the heart of everything.
- Work in partnership with central functions to ensure a strong understanding of process.
Skills and experience required as an Assistant Bodyshop Manager:
- Previous experience in a team lead, supervisory, parts focused role ideally within the automotive industry.
- A proactive individual eager to get things right first time.
- Strong communication (verbal and written), interpersonal and team working skills.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing demands.
- Strong organisational skills with an eye for process.
- Good IT skills and able to learn new systems and databases quickly.
- Have technical skills, knowledge and experience of body and paint repair in the retail motor industry. This is not essential but preferred.
