ASOS is seeking an Applied Scientist to join a Customer & Marketing focused machine learning team. In this role you will design, develop, and deploy models that inform marketing strategy and customer experience, working with large-scale customer and behavioural datasets. You will partner with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to embed your solutions in production workflows and contribute to a data-driven experimentation culture.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop machine learning and statistical models that drive marketing and customer decision making.
- Lead causal projects such as attribution, incrementality, and marketing effectiveness.
- Build and run experiments to evaluate models and inform product and business strategy.
- Collaborate with engineers to deploy models into scalable, production environments.
- Translate complex analytical outputs into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders.
- Contribute to shared codebases, experimentation frameworks, and best practices.
- Stay current with the latest developments in applied ML and statistics, and bring relevant ideas into the team.
Qualifications
- Experience applying machine learning or statistical methods in a practical or production adjacent setting.
- An interest in marketing-focused data science or machine learning problems (e.g., causal inference, incrementality, MMM).
- Experience or interest in causal inference, Bayesian methods, or experimentation.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language commonly used in machine learning, and familiarity with relevant frameworks.
- A solid understanding of statistical concepts and software development best practices.
- Ability to manage your work, collaborate with others, and deliver models or prototypes aligned with business needs.
- Comfortable working with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Interest in research and innovation; publications or conference contributions are welcome but not required.
