Senior Care Assistant – Progression to Team Leader

*Wentworth Residential Care Home – St Austell*

Are you an experienced Care Assistant ready to take the next step in your career?

We are looking for a kind, reliable and confident *Senior Care Assistant* to join our friendly team at Wentworth Residential Care Home. You do not need to know everything from day one—we will support you to develop your leadership skills and progress towards a *Team Leader role*.

You will provide high-quality, person-centred care while helping to guide and support other members of the care team. At times, you will also take responsibility for leading the shift.

What you'll be doing

  • Supporting residents with personal care, mobility, nutrition and everyday activities.
  • Promoting residents' dignity, independence, choices and wellbeing.
  • Administering medication safely once trained and assessed as competent.
  • Monitoring residents and reporting any changes or concerns.
  • Completing clear and accurate care records.
  • Acting as a key worker for allocated residents and helping to keep their care plans up to date.
  • Building positive relationships with residents and their families.
  • Supporting new and less experienced staff.
  • Helping to organise and prioritise care during the shift.
  • Acting as shift lead when scheduled and escalating concerns appropriately.
  • Contributing to handovers, staff meetings and the continued improvement of the home.

What we're looking for

  • Previous experience within adult social care, preferably in a residential care home.
  • A compassionate and respectful approach to supporting older people.
  • Confidence supporting colleagues and setting a positive example.
  • Good communication, organisation and record-keeping skills.
  • Reliability and the ability to remain calm during busy shifts.
  • Some experience of medication administration would be helpful, although training can be provided.
  • Basic confidence using digital care records or a willingness to learn.
  • An NVQ or Diploma in Health and Social Care is desirable but not essential for the right person.

What we offer

  • A welcoming and supportive team.
  • Full induction and ongoing training.
  • Regular supervision, feedback and development reviews.
  • Support to develop your leadership skills.
  • A clear progression route from *Senior Care Assistant to Team Leader*.
  • The opportunity to make a genuine difference in a small, friendly residential home.

If you are an experienced Care Assistant who is ready for more responsibility—or you already have senior care experience and are looking for a supportive new team—we would love to hear from you.

*Applicants must already have the right to work in the UK. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer visa sponsorship.*
