- Taking vital signs, documenting patient information, scheduling appointments, managing patient flow, and interacting directly with patients to ensure comfort and address concerns.
- Collaboration with physicians, nurse practitioners, and nursing staff to facilitate efficient care.
- Assist junior Medical Assistants with daily questions and responsibilities, supporting their onboarding and ongoing training.
- Show patients to examination rooms, prepare necessary equipment, and interview patients to obtain medical information, measure vital signs, weight, and height, and record data in medical records.
- Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, and physician instructions to patients, and organize educational materials to reinforce patient understanding.
- Perform general office duties such as answering phones, taking dictation, and completing insurance forms, acting as a liaison with other departments and advocating for patients with a positive customer service approach.
- Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log them, and prepare for testing; perform phlebotomy if competent.
- Maintain inventory of immunizations and check expiration dates.
- Administer immunizations (as applicable), requiring certification or three years of experience, under supervision of a provider.
- Contribute to departmental quality initiatives, such as ensuring two patient identifiers and proper hand hygiene.
Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required; Associate's Degree in Medical Assisting preferred.
Licenses and Credentials: Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification – preferred from various issuers. Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) – preferred from various certifying bodies.
Experience: 1-2 years of direct MA experience or medical field work required.
