Wentworth Club is one of the world’s finest private members Golf and Country Clubs, famous for its outstanding three Championship golf courses, in addition to a luxury Tennis & Health Club. The Club is surrounded and entwined within the Wentworth Estate, one of the most prestigious private estates in the London suburbs where many of the world’s premier golfers have their home.

We are looking for an Assistant Forester to support our Senior Forester to maintain the woodland on the Wentworth Club land to the highest standards throughout the year in line with Wentworth Club standard operating procedures. To be flexible and support any greenkeeping needs on the West, East, Edinburgh, and Academy courses from time to time. The working week is based on 40 hours Monday to Sunday. Flexibility is required to commit to regular overtime throughout the spring, summer and autumn periods.

Key Areas of Activity
  • Have basic knowledge and experience of the plant machinery used for specific tasks and ensure that they are used and maintained in the correct manner. This includes complying with the health and safety regulations whilst in operation.
  • Ensuring machinery is washed down, greased, oiled, and stored after operation.
  • To report machinery breakdowns to the Head Mechanic.
  • To advise the HOD of requirements to be able to work safely and effectively to an expected high standard.
  • To support the Senior Forester in woodland and forestry projects.
  • Maintaining up to date knowledge and awareness of current health and safety requirement regarding felling trees and chainsaw maintenance.
  • Maintaining full working knowledge of all SOP’s required of the role.
  • Able to identify plants, trees and (fungal) decay in trees.
  • Identifying, monitoring, and controlling trees that would be deemed dangerous.
  • Preparing machinery for use and storage.
  • Maintain awareness and understanding of the rules of golf relating to golf course maintenance.
Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience
  • Experience in a similar position within a similar environment is desirable.
  • Possess a Chainsaw Maintenance & Cross Cutting certification is desirable.
  • To play and understand the game of golf.
  • Flexible attitude regarding working hours.
