I'm recruiting for a hands-on Engineer Technician role with a well-established SME that designs and installs mechanical automated production systems for some of the leading retail and production companies across the UK and Europe. If you're a practical engineer who thrives in a positive, collaborative environment, this could be a great fit.
The Role
You’ll be involved in the full mechanical build, setting, and commissioning of conveyor and automation machinery, working from 2D/3D CAD drawings and assembly schedules. Day-to-day tasks will include cutting and building aluminium extruded frames, conveyors and guarding, building and setting pneumatic systems and pipework, positioning and setting reed switches and sensors, and making adjustments ready for commissioning and software testing.
On customer sites you’ll work as part of a team, assisting with the unloading of vehicles and moving equipment into position, so a good level of physical fitness is important. You’ll then build out equipment to drawings and site conditions, working through to fully completed and operational systems. You’ll also attend service visits for maintenance, warranty work and breakdowns, using your experience to fault find, problem solve, and feed back issues, preparing service reports and communicating clearly with the office.
The role is a mix of workshop-based work in Aldershot and customer site visits across the UK, with some overseas travel. This can involve staying away from home for two to three weeks on occasion depending on project locations.
What You’ll Need
- 5+ years of hands-on mechanical engineering experience
- Full UK driving licence
- Strong knowledge of machine mechanics and pneumatics
- Ability to read and interpret 2D/3D mechanical drawings
- Experience with sensor setting, pneumatic pipework and automation machinery
- A problem-solving mindset with strong communication skills
- Your own tool kit or at least some
- Must live within 30 miles of Aldershot
The Package
- £30,000 – £36,000 depending on experience
- Overtime available (~50 hrs/month) at enhanced rates (1.5x weekdays/Sat, 2x Sun)
- 22 days annual leave
- Salary review after 3 months, then annually
- Bonus scheme & company pension included
This is a company with a genuine team culture where people enjoy coming to work. You’ll be joining a friendly, supportive environment with real variety in the role and the chance to work on interesting, technically rewarding projects with some well-known clients.
Our client is not able to offer visa sponsorship.
