This is a part-time role that requires candidates to have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), a bachelor's degree in computer science or related field and a minimum of five years teaching experience. Applicants without these requirements will not be considered.

Wendover Online School was set up in 2016 to offer a bespoke individualised approach to online education with the aim of making a difference to every child’s learning journey. Our children and young people are aged between 8-20 years old. Our purpose is to teach and support our students during their studies so they can make the most of their online education with us.

This is a part-time remote role for a GCSE and A Level Computer Science and ICT teacher at Wendover Online School. The role entails:

  • Teaching live lessons
  • Designing and administering tailored test assessments
  • Providing actionable feedback to students
  • Ensuring delivery aligns with the school's curriculum while maintaining rigorous academic integrity
  • Collaborating with faculty to enhance instructional methods and support student performance tracking

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science
  • QTS
  • 5 years of teaching experience
  • Proficiency in test creation, assessment, and evaluation
  • Strong organisational and analytical skills for interpreting and presenting data
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience in educational testing or curriculum design, preferably in a British curriculum setting
  • Familiarity with modern e-learning platforms and technologies
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote and collaborative environment

Teachers are expected to:

  • Undertake initial training for using MS Teams for teaching
  • Have a fast and stable broadband connection
  • Plan and prepare focused, engaging lessons to meet the individual needs of your learners
  • Write schemes of work and programmes of study and collaborate on this with colleagues
  • Arrive at lessons before the start time to check your connection and technical equipment
  • Notify SLT via your teacher WhatsApp group of any late or absent students
  • Complete attendance registers for every student each lesson
  • Complete class records of work after each lesson
  • Compile reports at various points during the school term
  • Participate in our observation of teaching and learning process
  • Participate in staff CPD sessions

We ask you to:

  • Undertake safeguarding training courses provided by a recognised organisation every 2 years
  • Undertake a mandatory Enhanced DBS check paid for by Wendover Online School
  • Subscribe to the DBS online update service
  • Complete our registration process including a health self-declaration
  • Agree to report any safeguarding issue directly to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)

You will be paid at the end of each month in which you have taught on submission of an invoice at the rates below:

  • GCSE and below: £22 per 40 min lesson and £33 per 60 min lesson
  • A level: £25.50 per 40 min lesson and £38.25 per 60 min lesson
  • Meetings: £15.50 per hour
  • Exam paper setting at £10 and marking at £4 per paper
  • INSET: £15.50 per hour
  • Reports: £2.50 per report

Training (Wendover will provide):

  • Annual INSET training and accessible support for each teacher
  • In-house annual safeguarding training
  • Access to optional online webinars and training

By law, any person engaged in the working with children sector must be checked to ensure that you are not subject to a prohibition order issued by the Secretary of State or any sanction or restriction imposed by the historic General Teaching Council for England.
