As a Youth Development Officer (YDO) with WeMindTheGap you will have the opportunity to be part of something special. Our award-winning programmes are delivered to young people with unashamed love, care, and consistency, providing them with the foundation they need to thrive.
This YDO role will work on our 12-month WeGrow programmes in Flintshire, supporting our Gappies with work placements, life coaching, new skills, experiences, and a further 6-months of dedicated support.
About The Role
You will work closely with our WeGrow Flintshire Youth Programme Lead to deliver our WeGrow programme. This has been the flagship programme for WeMindTheGap for over a decade and includes:
- Launchpad – a coaching course to answer the questions ‘Who am I? What do I want? How am I going to get it?’
- Amazing Experiences – horizon broadening activities from days out exploring the local area, health and nutrition workshops, an outdoor adventure residential trip, and even tea with the Mayor.
- Essential Skill Development – the chance for Gappies to fill any gaps they may have, whether this is working towards improving their Maths and English, learning about nutrition and how to cook healthy, nutritionally balanced meals, or improving their digital literacy.
- Six-months of paid work – providing Gappies with four placements within different sectors offered by our employer partners.
It will be your responsibility to help lead Gappies through this journey with unashamed love, care and support. Every journey will be different, and it will take all of your experience, professionalism and patience to ensure each Gappie has the best programme they can.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This role will require you to attend overnight residential trips, as well as day trips away from our Flintshire Hub.
