Job Summary
The Associate Director will play a senior leadership role within North West London Teaching School Hub, supporting the Director in the strategic and operational leadership and delivery of the Hub across Wembley Multi-Academy Trust and the wider regional network. The postholder will ensure the effective delivery of Initial Teacher Training (ITT), Early Career Teacher Entitlement (ECTE/ECF), National Professional Qualifications (NPQs) and Appropriate Body (AB) services, while maintaining a strong focus on participant experience, stakeholder engagement, financial sustainability, and compliance with Department for Education (DfE) requirements. This role is critical to ensuring that the Hub continues to provide high-quality professional development for teachers and leaders across North West London.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
- Strategic Leadership and Hub Development
- Contribute to the strategic direction of the North West London Teaching School Hub, aligned with Wembley MAT priorities and DfE expectations.
- Contribute to the development, implementation, and monitoring of the annual Delivery Plan, ensuring targets and KPIs are met across all programme strands.
- Support the Director in identifying and responding to regional workforce needs, ensuring equitable access to high-quality professional development across all phases and settings.
- Deputise for the Director where required, including representing the Hub at regional and national meetings.
- Operational Leadership Across ITT, ECF/ECTE and NPQs
- Provide operational oversight of key delivery streams: ITT (as lead partner within WMAT partnerships), Early Career Teacher Entitlement programmes, National Professional Qualifications.
- Ensure effective collaboration with Lead Providers, ITT partners, and delivery partners.
- Monitor recruitment, retention, completion, and performance across programmes.
- Ensure delivery is responsive, high quality, and aligned to national frameworks.
- Appropriate Body (AB) Oversight
- Work with leaders to ensure high-quality delivery of Appropriate Body services across the hub region, meeting statutory responsibilities.
- Oversee systems for ECT registration, progress monitoring, quality assurance visits, and data reporting.
- Ensure all ECTs are registered and supported in line with statutory guidance and timelines.
- Develop strong relationships with schools to ensure effective induction practice.
- Participant Engagement and Experience
- Drive high levels of participant engagement, retention, and completion across all programmes.
- Ensure school leader satisfaction remains strong (targeting ≥80% positive feedback).
- Use survey data, feedback, and evaluation to continuously improve participant experience.
- Develop strategies to increase reach and participation across diverse school contexts, including SEND, alternative provision, and early years settings.
- Stakeholder Engagement and Partnerships
- Build and sustain strong relationships across North West London, including Schools and trusts within and beyond Wembley MAT, Lead Providers and ITT partners, System partners (Research Schools, subject hubs, local networks), DfE Regional Delivery Teams.
- Act as a key ambassador for the Hub, promoting engagement and collaboration.
- Develop networks of high-quality delivery partners to support programme delivery at scale.
- Quality Assurance, Compliance and Reporting
- Work with leaders to develop and embed robust quality assurance systems across all delivery areas.
- Ensure compliance with DfE guidance and grant funding agreements, programme fidelity requirements, and statutory AB responsibilities.
- Lead on accurate and timely termly and annual reporting across delivery and finance.
- Ensure readiness for audit, monitoring, and review of designation processes.
- Financial Oversight and Sustainability
- Support the Director in ensuring financial sustainability of the Hub.
- Work with leaders to oversee effective use of the TSH core grant, ensuring all expenditure represents value for money and complies with funding guidance.
- Monitor budgets, forecast expenditure, and contribute to financial planning.
- Identify opportunities to maximise efficiency and sustainability across hub operations.
- Systems, Processes and Continuous Improvement
- Design and implement efficient processes and systems to support operational delivery, data tracking and reporting, compliance and quality assurance.
- Lead continuous improvement work based on performance data and sector developments.
- Ensure the Hub operates with clarity, consistency, and strong internal systems.

Essential Experience
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Senior leadership experience in a school, MAT, or system leadership role.
- Experience of ITT, ECF/ECTE, NPQ or wider professional development programmes.
- Demonstrable experience of leading complex operational delivery.
- Proven ability to build and sustain partnerships across schools and organisations.
