Modern Foreign Languages is a vital and growing area within the Trust, offering students opportunities to develop communication skills, cultural awareness and intellectual curiosity. Spanish plays a key role in broadening students' understanding of the wider world and equipping them with the linguistic confidence and global outlook needed for future study and employment. Through a broad and ambitious curriculum, students are encouraged to develop fluency, resilience and independence across the four key language skills. The subject makes a significant contribution to students' personal development and cultural capital.
From September 2026, the Trust will launch the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB DP), providing an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to contribute to the development of a rich and ambitious languages curriculum, including potential involvement in Language B or ab initio courses. This represents a significant platform for professional growth, curriculum design and collaboration within a forward-thinking educational environment.
The successful candidate will be energetic, well-organised and committed to excellence in the classroom, and will play a key role in further developing Modern Foreign Languages across the Trust. They will also contribute to our vibrant and wide-ranging extra-curricular programme, including language clubs, educational visits, cultural enrichment activities and opportunities that promote a love of languages and international understanding.
Additional qualifications: The ability to offer French, Mandarin, Portuguese or Latin in addition to Spanish would be advantageous, although this is not essential. We welcome applications from ECTs as well as those who wish to train to teach. Trainee teachers at WMAT schools receive a comprehensive, structured training programme, delivered by highly trained mentors and bespoke to the individual trainee's needs.
