Starting salary £50,696 pa with progression to £53,953 pa through annual increments subject to satisfactory service (inclusive of outer fringe allowance).

37 hours per week (hybrid working). Permanent contract.

We are looking for a proactive and enthusiastic senior professional to guide the Licensing Service function within regulatory services. This is an exciting opportunity to provide leadership for the service and oversee a team of professional officers.

About the role

The Licensing Team Leader will support the Regulatory Services Manager in the delivery of licensing functions and will be responsible for providing technical support to the team. The Team Leader will be responsible for the implementation of the Licensing Act 2003, Gambling Act 2025, Vehicle Licensing, Motor Salvage, Street Trading and other licensing functions including regulation and enforcement. The post holder will also undertake proactive and reactive work, responding to a range of service requests.

The post holder will support the strategic development and delivery of the Licensing Service. You will have managerial responsibility for professional and technical staff, and the delivery of the work programme to ensure that all service objectives, targets and service levels are understood, monitored and delivered.

The post holder will work in collaboration with other services and senior management to ensure that services are joined up appropriately and are aligned to the achievement of the Council’s aims and objectives.

About you

We are seeking a professional with proven experience within Licensing. A track record of seeing complex cases through to conclusion and seeking service improvements. You’ll bring excellent technical knowledge, a passion for your service area with excellent time management skills and an innovative approach. This is a high-impact role at the heart of a prominent public-facing service, offering the opportunity to shape standards across the borough. You will have a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle. This role will require some work to be undertaken outside of normal working hours. This post is politically restricted.
