The predicted salary is between 55051 - 58455 £ per year.

Fixed term contract up to 12 months (maternity cover). Starting salary £55,051 with progression to £58,455 through annual increments subject to satisfactory service (inclusive of fringe allowance). 37 hours per week (hybrid working).

Are you interested in leading a small but busy Governance Services team in improving the council’s constitutional and decision‑making processes? If so, we’d like to hear from you! You will play a significant role in providing expert advice to support the work of councillors and colleagues across the authority.

We are looking for an exceptional communicator with considerable committee administration experience. You will be an innovative thinker and a strong leader who is able to prioritise work, meet deadlines and work under pressure. We are entering a new and exciting period of local government, implementing an extensive modernisation agenda which requires a creative and dedicated manager to develop new and efficient ways of working.

This role requires someone:

  • Educated to degree level or with equivalent relevant experience.
  • To have substantial knowledge and experience of local government administration, executive arrangements and the political decision‑making process.
  • Experience of leading, managing and motivating a small team.
  • Flexible with the ability to attend regular evening meetings and oversee the running and administration of council meetings.
  • The ability to converse at ease with councillors and members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential in this post.

This work is hybrid with the expectation of office attendance at least twice a week, and to meet service needs when required. The role will require attendance to evening committee meetings. This role is politically restricted.
