Environmental Health Officer (Private Sector Housing)(RP0154)
Starting salary £46,376pa with progression to £49,608pa through annual increments subject to satisfactory service (inclusive of outer fringe allowance). Permanent contract, 37 hours per week (hybrid working).
Overview
We’re looking for a proactive and enthusiastic professional to deliver the service functions within regulatory services. The team covers a specialist area of Environmental Health, focusing on either Environmental Protection or Private Sector Housing.
Responsibilities
- Discharge the Council\’s responsibilities under private sector housing legislation, codes of practice and guidance through the inspection or sampling of premises and the interpretation of compliance with legal requirements.
- Conduct investigations of incidents, persons, premises or activities as required for the specific service area.
- Provide an excellent service to residents, promoting a better environment and healthy lifestyle using a range of intervention strategies, including enforcement, education and advice.
- Work both as part of a team and independently to take formal enforcement action, seeing cases through from start to completion.
- Partner with other teams within the Council and outside agencies to deliver the best outcomes within the legislation and means available to the service.
Qualifications
- Enthusiastic and qualified Environmental Health Officer with experience in service delivery.
- Track record of seeing complex cases through to conclusion and seeking service improvements.
- Excellent technical knowledge and strong time‑management skills, with an innovative approach.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a car required.
