  • What You’ll Do
  • Support the EYFS team in providing nurturing care and high‑quality early education for young children.
  • Plan and support engaging activities aligned with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), including child‑initiated and adult‑led learning, purposeful play and practical experiences matched to children’s individual needs, interests and developmental stages.
  • Support children’s communication, language, early literacy and numeracy development through play, stories, songs, routines and high‑quality interactions.
  • Help to create and maintain a safe, inclusive, stimulating and well‑organised learning environment, following safeguarding, health and safety, hygiene and risk‑management procedures.
  • Build positive relationships with children, parents, carers and colleagues, contributing to a warm, supportive and inclusive school community.
  • Observe children, record progress and use assessment information to help plan next steps and provide personalised support.
  • Support children’s social, emotional, physical and cognitive development, including transitions, independence, wellbeing and positive behaviour.
  • Work professionally as part of the EYFS and wider school team, attending meetings, receiving feedback and participating in ongoing training with Heart of England Training.
  • Training Outcome

It is hoped, but not guaranteed, that a full offer of employment may be available at the end of the apprenticeship.

The qualification also supports progression into roles such as Early Years Educator, Nursery Practitioner, Preschool Practitioner, Reception Class Assistant or Childcare Practitioner, with a longer‑term pathway towards Level5 Early Years Lead Practitioner.
