Governance and Safeguarding Officer – Welsh Target Shooting Federation
Job Title: Governance and Safeguarding Officer
Location: WTSF office, Cardiff, Wales. (With flexibility for remote working.)
Contract Type: Part-time, Permanent. 16 hours per week (40% FTE)
Salary: Circa £10.4k – £11.6k (£26k – £29k FTE)

The Welsh Target Shooting Federation (WTSF) is the governing body for target shooting sports in Wales, currently representing five member associations:
- Welsh Clay Target Shooting Association
- Welsh Rifle Association
- Welsh Smallbore Rifle Association
- Welsh Airgun Field Target Association
We are dedicated to promoting and developing the sport at all levels, from grassroots to elite performance. Our mission is to inspire and support shooters to achieve their full potential and to foster a vibrant shooting community across Wales.
Role Overview: We are seeking a diligent and committed Governance and Safeguarding Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the WTSF operates in compliance with all relevant governance and safeguarding standards. This is a vital role that will help to maintain the integrity and safety of our sport.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure that WTSF’s governance improvement plan complies with all relevant laws, regulations, and standards, including those set by Sport Wales and other governing bodies.
- Oversee safeguarding policies and practices to protect the welfare of all participants, especially children and vulnerable adults.
- Lead the organisation through to completion of the CPSU Level 2 Safeguarding Certificate for National Governing Bodies.
- Provide support to Associations, coaches, and volunteers on governance and safeguarding matters.
- Conduct regular audits and reviews to ensure adherence to governance and safeguarding standards.
- Act as the main point of contact for all safeguarding concerns and incidents, ensuring they are managed and resolved appropriately.
- Liaise with key stakeholders, including Sport Wales, Regional Sports Partnerships, local authorities, and other relevant organizations, to ensure best practices are followed.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to governance and safeguarding activities.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Proven experience in a similar governance or safeguarding role, preferably within a sports organisation.
- Strong understanding of governance and safeguarding principles and practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to promoting a safe and inclusive environment for all participants.
