We are seeking an ambitious and driven practitioner to support the delivery of world-class physical performance within the Women’s Senior Programme. Working as part of an integrated performance team, the Physical Performance Coach will play a key role in the physical preparation, monitoring, and return-to-performance support of elite female athletes.
In this role, you will support the delivery of world-class athletic performance services within a Senior International Women’s Rugby programme, contributing to the physical preparation, monitoring, and readiness of athletes competing at the highest level of the game. Working closely with coaching, medical, and performance staff, you will assist in the design and implementation of evidence-based strength and conditioning programmes that enhance performance, support player availability, and prepare athletes for the demands of international competition and test match rugby.
What You’ll Do
- Support the Senior Women’s Physical Performance Lead in the build and preparation of delivery of physical preparation programmes.
- Assist in the design and implementation of individualised strength and conditioning programmes.
- Contribute to athlete monitoring, testing, profiling, and performance data collection.
- Support rehabilitation and return-to-performance processes in collaboration with medical and performance staff.
- Help maintain and drive high performance standards across the women’s pathway.
- Assist with the physical development and readiness of nationally contracted student athletes.
- Ensure alignment with the objectives and standards of the national women’s performance pathway.
What You’ll Bring
- Experience working within elite strength and conditioning environments in rugby or team sport.
- Strong coaching ability across strength, speed, conditioning, movement, and athletic development.
- Knowledge and practical experience of athlete testing, screening, profiling, and performance monitoring systems (GPS, training load, wellness monitoring).
- Understanding of rehabilitation and return-to-performance processes within an interdisciplinary team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive athlete and staff relationships.
- High levels of organisation, professionalism, and attention to detail.
- A proactive approach with a genuine passion for developing female athletes and supporting high-performance environments.

- The WRU require that individuals are proficient in IT skills, specifically Microsoft packages.
- Excellent written and verbal communications are essential, along with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to communicate through the medium of Welsh and a Valid UK Driver's License is desirable.
- This role is subject to a basic/enhanced DBS check.
