The Welsh Rugby Union Group (WRU) is proud to offer a fantastic opportunity for young people to join our Rugby Development Apprenticeship Programme.
Do you have a passion for sport and want to inspire others to take part in sport? Feel you have not yet reached your full potential? Have the motivation to self‑develop and be part of our team? Are you 18 years old on or before the 1st January 2027? Enthusiastic about working with young people and becoming a positive role model in your community? Dynamic and keen to show initiative and leadership? Able to commit to the one‑year programme?
Selection Days: 9th September & 10th September 2026 at Cardiff Metropolitan University, Cyncoed Road, Cardiff, CF23 6XD (both days are mandatory)
Salary: £12,515 per annum
Closing Date: 28th August 2026
Location: The National Centre of Excellence, Principality Stadium, throughout Wales to include the Scarlets, Cardiff, Dragons, RGC & Ospreys regions.
Hours of work: 30 per week. You will be required to work flexibly, evenings and weekends as necessary, Monday to Sunday.
Responsible to: Rugby Development Apprenticeship Manager
Contractual Status: Fixed term, 12-month apprenticeship contract subject to 5 month probationary period
Start Date: The apprenticeship will start with an Induction Day on 17th September 2026 at the Principality Stadium.
The Person:
- 18 years old on or before 1st January 2027
- Not in further education
- Demonstrate an enthusiasm for working in the Community game at all levels.
- Applicants do not require any formal qualifications, although GCSE Maths & English (A - C Grade) or equivalent is desirable and will need to be completed during the apprenticeship.
- Demonstrate a knowledge and experience of volunteering in the community.

- Support regional community programmes and department
- Support National Community programmes and National performance events
- Support Commercial activities
- Study Level 4 Foundation in Sport Management and Development
- Undertake essential skills assessment
- Carry out duties in support of the WRU Group Strategic Mission, Purpose and Values
