We are seeking a Maintenance Assistant to work as part of the maintenance team at the Principality Stadium, also supporting the technical team. This role covers everything from assisting in daily maintenance to event day support.

The role requires physical work and can be demanding. You will need to be able to work at heights, as there will be times when you are working on the stadium roof.

The ideal candidate will have an understanding of building trades and be prepared to assist maintenance operatives in their primary roles.

The role is primarily Monday to Friday, but you will also be expected to work events, whether they fall on a weekday or weekend. These can involve long and late hours.

The Person

The ideal candidate will be self-reliant and able to carry out instructions from the team supervisor. They must be able to work independently or as part of a team. Attention to detail is important. The ability to learn new skills and develop within the team will be a great asset.

The Role

  1. Assist with maintenance and technical duties as required.
  2. Ensure work and storage spaces are kept clean, clear, and free of obstruction.
  3. Provide maintenance support for tasks including painting, plumbing, seat repairs, barriers, carpentry, doors, and concrete repairs within the stadium.
  4. Provide technical support in maintaining the plant, replacing equipment, and new installations.
  5. Understand personal responsibilities in relation to Health & Safety at Work legislation and demonstrate a working knowledge of COSHH assessment applicable to your work area.
  6. Take reasonable care of items of equipment used to carry out tasks, including general cleanliness and advising on faults and the need for maintenance or replacement goods.
  7. Assist with inspections and checks in advance of events, including checks of toilets, surface finishes, seating, building fabric, plant rooms, boiler house, water storage, etc.
  8. Provide assistance in event-related preparations (including additional working hours).
  9. Provide support on event days.
  10. Carry out duties in support of the WRU Group Strategic Mission, Purpose, and Values.

WRU Requirements

The WRU requires that individuals are proficient in IT skills, specifically Microsoft packages. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Ability to communicate through the medium of Welsh and a Valid UK Driver\'s License is desirable. This role is subject to a basic/enhanced DBS check.
