To lead and coordinate all administrative aspects of referee administration and appointments for all WRU-related Competitions along with logistics and planning for major fixtures.

Closing Date: 13 January 2026

Salary: £28,000 per annum

Location: Principality Stadium, Cardiff/and or WRU National Centre of Excellence, Hensol

Contractual status: Permanent (subject to 6-month probationary period)

Hours of work: 35 per week. Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm, with a requirement to work flexibly, evenings and weekends as necessary

Reporting to: Regulatory & Competitions Manager/Match Official Development Lead

The Person

  • Strong track record of working in an administration support position
  • Experience with WRU Match Officials
  • Experience of managing online databases including accurate data input and report writing
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of regulatory compliance
  • Excellent IT skills, specifically Microsoft package
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential
  • Ability to communicate and work through the medium of Welsh is desirable

The Role

Key Responsibilities, Tasks and Activities

  • Oversee and manage costs from external tournaments related to referees including elite officials’ income and expenditure across WRU, EPCR, and URC competitions.
  • Act as a key liaison with high-profile stakeholders, including professional clubs, community clubs, and both professional and community referees.
  • Oversee and approve match official travel arrangements across both community and performance refereeing departments.
  • Organize and present at all WRU regional referee conferences.
  • Managed arrivals, accommodation, and travel for WRU-appointed officials.
  • Coordinate all WRU Level 3 Match Officials appointments allocated by the Referee Manager/Development Officer and communicate to Match Officials and Clubs Monthly.
  • Coordinate all WRU Level 3 Advisors’ appointments allocated by the Referee Manager/Development officer and communicate to Advisors Monthly.
  • Ensure the WRU Admin database is frequently updated with correct fixtures to ensure the rapid entry of results via the referee's mobile app which will over time include all WRU competitions.
  • Process reports sent in by all Advisors on a weekly basis.
  • Communicate weekly with all match officials and clubs on updates for the department, law changes, necessary documentation etc.
  • Process expense claims submitted by advisors and referees on a monthly basis.
  • Carry out duties in support of the WRU Group Strategic Mission, Purpose and values.

WRU Requirements

  • This role is subject to a basic DBS check.
