The predicted salary is between 46300 - 52800 € per year.

As an expert within the field of education, practice development and innovation, the postholder will possess highly developed specialist knowledge. Working with a significant level of autonomy, the post holder will be responsible for the assessment, development and implementation of a wide range of clinical and professional education and development interventions to sustain and enhance practice education across the Welsh Blood Service.

Working as a core member of the Clinical Service Team, the post holder will ensure the development and delivery of complex, robust, and evidence-based clinical donor care, educational and practice development interventions and initiatives, ensuring both clinical regulatory and professional requirements are met to enable provision of optimal care and experience to our donors and patients.

In addition to the core practice development, innovation and education function, the post holder will be required to support the wider clinical service donor care function to provide service resilience, and will provide operational leadership for several key programmes across the Welsh Blood Service including:

  • Infection Prevention and Control
  • Safeguarding and Public Protection
  • Clinical lead for staff vaccination programmes

Main duties of the job:

  • Utilise expert teaching and presentation skills (both written and spoken) to successfully provide relevant educational presentations to a variety of staff groups demonstrating the ability to adjust content and language used in line with audience.
  • Act as a clinical specialist for donor care, clinical education, practice development and innovation, ensuring that clinical service practice standards meet appropriate regulatory and professional requirements e.g. the Medicines and Health Care products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) and Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
  • Collaborate with Consultant in Donor Care, Head of Nursing and Trainee Advanced Practitioner in Donor Care to identify, develop, plan and evaluate a broad range of education and training initiatives in line with organisational strategic objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead the promotion, development, delivery and evaluation of clinical education, practice development and innovation initiatives to support the continual improvement of services to sustain and enhance practice education provision across the WBS.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Person Specification:

  • Registered Nurse with current NMC registration
  • Experienced Clinical Leader
  • Educated to Master's Degree level or equivalent experience
  • Evidence of post registration education with a commitment to ongoing continuous learning and application in practice.
  • Relevant teaching and assessing qualification e.g. PGCE
  • Experience in Service development and innovation projects
  • Experience in practice development, clinical audit, clinical governance, service improvement and risk assessment
  • Working towards an accredited qualification in leadership
  • Recognised Project Management Qualification
  • Fluent in written and spoken Welsh Language
  • Accredited qualification in leadership
  • Experience in leading Service improvement and Innovation projects
  • Competent in blood and blood component collection
  • Previous experience within a Nursing education, service improvement and practice development role.
  • Extensive demonstrable experience in developing education and training programmes.
  • Demonstrable experience of developing educational and practice development programmes and resources.
  • Experience of quality and clinical audit processes.
  • Experience in statistical analysis and their application to improve practice.
  • Experience of working independently & using own initiative
  • Experience in influencing and motivating people.
  • Computer literate in routine keyboard skills and software packages.
  • Post registration experience of leading/managing a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Clinical knowledge, skill and expertise in blood and component donation and post donation care.
