Working collaboratively with their respective Senior Paramedic, the principle role of the Operations Manager is the 24/7 operational leadership of a defined area. Operating on both an Emergency Ambulance (EA) and a Rapid Response Vehicle (RRV), ensuring the safe service delivery from all ambulance clinicians. The Operations Manager will work to their respective scope of clinical practice. Operational management will be spent supporting the Locality Manager in ensuring the continuous provision of a safe and effective service.

In order to apply, applicants must hold a degree level qualification, or have equivalent experience, a minimum clinical grade of Level 4 Diploma for Associate Ambulance Practitioners/IHCD Ambulance Aid, Bronze and Silver IQT, ILM Level 4 in Leadership and Management, or working towards. Level 3 Certificate in Emergency Response Ambulance Driving and a full UK manual driving licence with C1 category. Applicants will have the passion and drive to support their team to deliver the highest levels of patient care and clinical safety. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job:

  • Operations Managers will provide effective operational leadership and management support to their team of Paramedics and Emergency Medical Technicians, including maintaining their welfare, supporting personal development and reviewing performance and progress.
  • Successful applicants will provide emergency response cover within their scope of clinical practice.
  • Post holders will also be expected to perform Operational Commander duties that include large scale major incidents.
  • The role requires excellent communication skills, flexibility in approach and a high degree of personal organisation to determine priorities and the ability to handle a range of issues.
  • You will need to be an excellent problem solver, demonstrating flexibility and compassion in your approach to the changing priorities the Trust faces on a day-to-day basis.
