The post holder will undertake remote telephone assessments of patients in an efficient way. They will advise the most appropriate intervention to meet the needs of the patient using best clinical practice, adhering to Trust Policy, protocols and guidelines. Will work in an autonomous capacity, assessing and advising callers within agreed guidelines.

111 Wales/Integrated Care (IC) is at the forefront of an improving urgent and emergency care offering for the people of Wales both online and over the phone. At 111 Wales/IC we employ a wide range of colleagues, from Call Handlers to Nurses, Paramedics, and data analysts, working as part of a multi-disciplinary team alongside GPs, Pharmacists and Mental Health Practitioners. This is a dynamic role in which you’ll draw upon your clinical assessment skills to help and advise a broad spectrum of patients, from minor ailments and injuries to complex and urgent conditions as well as to hone your skills in a remote clinical decision-making environment. Our highly trained teams work closely with urgent care GP’s and pharmacists in looking after Wales Urgent care needs. Qualifications:

  • Essential criteria: NMC Registered Nurse (adult or Child), relevant clinical practice as a nurse in front line, acute or chronic care, or telephone based triage or HCPC Registered Paramedic with demonstrable post registration experience as a Paramedic in front line services. Evidence of undertaking regular update training and continuous personal/professional development as required by regulating body.
  • Desirable criteria: Meets all desirable criteria as per attached job description/person specification.

Experience:

  • Essential criteria: Able to demonstrate strong listening and communication skills. Able to demonstrate team working with a collaborative style. Able to work to own initiative and make decisions. Able to demonstrate sound clinical decision making capabilities. Be able to demonstrate high levels of current clinical knowledge, computer literate, committed to personal development.
  • Desirable criteria: Ability to speak Welsh.

Aptitude and Abilities:

  • Essential criteria: Committed to ongoing training and development including mandatory updates. Good self-management – ie self-starter, good time keeping. Ability to work under their own initiative without direct supervision. Flexible approach to work – expect to work a rotating shift system including working nights and weekends (unsocial hours).
  • Desirable criteria: Understanding of and work in accordance with the Trust values and behaviours.
