It has been an exciting time at Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust as we continue our journey of "Being our Best", and our mission to provide world-class patient care. We are now looking to recruit new Ambulance Care Assistants 2 - Transfer Practitioner.

This service allows us to prioritise and allocate one of our transfer vehicles, staffed by one WAST Ambulance Care Assistant along with a Transfer Practitioner to safely and timely transfer ward to ward level deteriorating patients. The Transfer Practitioner will work closely with the Ambulance crew member to move patients safely between sites.

Main duties of the job:

Due to the current training commitments within the Organisation and the specific service requirement commissioned by the health board, we are looking for individuals who have operational experience on Emergency Ambulance or Non-Emergency ambulances as an ACA2, EMT or Paramedic, have a C1 driving license and are trained to drive under emergency conditions or willing to complete required driver training. Please note that applicants must hold a full C1 driving license with a maximum of 3 penalty points and no previous convictions for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol in order to progress to the driving assessment. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Person specification:

Qualifications:

  • Essential criteria: Level 2 Diploma including Essential/Key/Core Skills at Level 2 in Application of Number and Communication or 5 GCSEs at grade C or above including Mathematics/Numeracy, English/Welsh and combined Sciences or any single science.
  • Operational experience on Emergency Ambulance or Non-Emergency ambulances as an ACA2, EMT or Paramedic.

Experience:

  • Essential criteria: Experience of working with people; Experience of working alone as well as in a team.
  • Desirable criteria: Experience within the health or social care setting.

Other:

  • Essential criteria: Full UK Driving licence, (with no more than three endorsement points) and no convictions for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs; C1 classification on driving licence.
  • Desirable criteria: Emergency Response driving qualification.
