An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Ambulance Care Directorate as an Operational Manager with the Central and West Area covering Hywel Dda Health Board area.
Main duties of the job:
- The post provides an exciting opportunity to join a team that is responsible for the delivery of non-emergency Ambulance transport across the Hywel Dda Health Board area.
- The team comprises around 100 staff and is a busy and demanding role which requires creative thinking and hard work to continuously improve the service delivery across Ambulance Care.
- The role provides an opportunity to challenge yourself and develop your management and strategic skills, working closely across all Ambulance Care teams and other departments within WAST, while also negotiating and working with numerous outside agencies, including the voluntary sector, private sector, and key commissioning stakeholders.
- Whilst the post holder will be based in Carmarthenshire, you will be required to work at various locations across the region.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

- The post holder has line manager responsibility for a group of operational team leaders and their operational teams (Ambulance Care Assistants 1 2) across Ambulance Care.
- You will have responsibility for the delivery of local operational services ensuring that objectives and performance targets are met by monitoring and maintaining standards, ensuring that contractual requirements contained within the local Commissioner Service Level Agreements are met, together with Trust Policy, Procedures and Quality standards.
- Implement change where necessary.

Qualifications and/or Knowledge
- Essential criteria: Educated to degree level in a relevant area such as Business or Healthcare. Significant experience and specialised knowledge in Business, Logistics or Healthcare.
- Desirable criteria: Above average knowledge of performance information, including data interpretation. Experience of managing at a senior level within the NHS (i.e. managing managers).
