Overview
Welocity is seeking a Senior AI Engineer to spearhead the architecture and deployment of AI solutions across its platforms. This role is pivotal in transforming cutting-edge AI research into practical, scalable applications within the ITES sector. The Senior AI Engineer will design scalable generative AI workflows, develop LLM applications, and maintain robust ML data pipelines. The position demands collaboration with product management and data teams to drive innovation and optimize system performance. Embedding responsible AI principles into all deliverables is a key focus of this role, ensuring ethical and compliant AI solutions. The engineer will also engage with executive stakeholders to align AI capabilities with business goals. This position is based in multiple UK locations including London, Manchester, Bristol, Cambridge, and Liverpool, providing a flexible opportunity to work in a dynamic and innovative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and deployment of scalable Generative AI and LLM applications in production environments.
- Develop and maintain robust data pipelines and model monitoring infrastructures using modern cloud environments.
- Design evaluation frameworks to ensure output accuracy, low latency, and compliance with safety standards.
- Mentor mid-level and junior engineers, promoting engineering rigor and conducting code reviews.
- Translate business requirements into technical roadmaps and communicate complex AI capabilities to non-technical stakeholders.
- Implement AI ethics, data privacy (GDPR compliance), and responsible AI practices.
- Collaborate with product management and data platform teams to drive AI innovation and system optimization.
- Ensure seamless integration of AI solutions with existing platforms and systems.
Requirements
- 3-6 years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on AI/ML solutions.
- Expert proficiency in Python, TypeScript, Go, or Java, with strong software engineering principles including CI/CD and modular architecture.
- Hands-on experience with modern LLM frameworks such as LangChain and LlamaIndex, and techniques like prompt engineering and retrieval-augmented generation.
- Proficiency in vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, Qdrant) and SQL/NoSQL systems.
- Experience deploying models and services on AWS, GCP, or Azure using tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with senior leadership and technical teams.
- Experience with open-source model optimization and UK enterprise security compliance is a plus.
Education
M.Sc. or B.Sc. in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related quantitative field.
