ABOUT THE ROLE
The Assistant Tax Manager will be responsible for managing all tax aspects of Welltower’s UK portfolio on a day-to-day basis. This role involves strategic collaboration with internal stakeholders and external third parties to ensure compliance with all UK tax reporting requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation of tax workpapers and tax returns to ensure accurate and timely income tax compliance.
- Respond to tax authority notices and inquiries, demonstrating expertise in tax regulations.
- Manage REIT and partnership tax reporting, ensuring full compliance.
- Oversee the preparation of estimated tax payments, compute taxes due, and coordinate reporting processes.
- Maintain compliance with other direct and indirect tax requirements, staying updated on regulatory changes.
- Prepare the UK tax provision for the consolidated financial statements, ensuring accuracy and adherence to ASC 740.
- Review capital allowances and transfer pricing in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Support compliance with BRR+ reviews and Systems and Governance audits.
- Perform additional duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a team-oriented approach.

Minimum Requirements
- This is a 100% office-based role in Central London.
- 4-6 years of experience in real estate or partnership tax, preferably with multiple legal entities in an M&A environment. Healthcare real estate experience is a plus but not required.
- Professional qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CTA, or similar is required.
- Knowledge of UK real estate taxation, especially REIT regime and partnership taxation, is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in Workflow software and MS Excel.
- Experience with VAT and Construction Industry Scheme is desirable.
- Good understanding of accounting and general ledger systems.
- Basic knowledge of tax principles and real estate taxation is beneficial.
- Excellent communication skills and confidence in client-facing situations.
