The Cleaner position involves maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness across teaching spaces, offices and communal areas in our schools.
Responsibilities
- Cleaning classrooms, offices and communal areas using appropriate equipment (mopping, sweeping, buffing, suction cleaning and machine scrubbing)
- Cleaning internal surfaces including walls, windows, worktops and sanitary facilities
- Emptying bins and removing waste safely
- Carrying out specialist cleaning tasks such as carpet cleaning, stain removal and descaling
- Replenishing hygiene supplies (soap, hand towels, toilet rolls)
- Conducting routine equipment safety checks and basic maintenance
- Reporting damage, faults or concerns promptly
- Locking and unlocking school premises and ensuring site security
- Maintaining confidentiality and safeguarding standards at all times; contributing directly to a safe learning environment for young people
- Access to relevant training and development opportunities
Qualifications and Skills
No formal qualifications are required β we value attitude, reliability and a willingness to learn.
- Can work independently and as part of a team
- Has an awareness of health and safety practices
- Is able to carry out physical tasks including lifting and climbing
- Follows instructions carefully and works to high standards
- Demonstrates integrity and professionalism
- Is flexible and willing to undertake relevant training
- Is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion
- Has previous cleaning experience (desirable, not essential β full training provided)
