We are seeking enthusiastic and proactive staff to support the Estates Team as a Relief Assistant Caretaker (Barnsley area, West Region). The role requires flexibility around existing commitments and includes duties in catering, cleaning and estates. Working hours are daytime only with a range of contract types such as part-time, full-time, term time, permanent, temporary, job share, and options to combine childcare needs during school holidays.
Responsibilities
- Work as part of a team to maintain a high level of customer service for students and staff.
- Adhere to health and safety, COSHH, risk assessment, and safeguarding procedures.
- Support estate maintenance, cleaning and catering tasks as assigned.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment in the school.
- Adjust working hours to fit existing commitments (day-time only, no weekends or evenings).
Qualifications & Requirements
- All posts are subject to enhanced DBS checks.

- Successful candidates will undergo reference checks and an online background search.
- For overseas applicants: an overseas criminal records check for any country/countries where the applicant has lived within the last five years.
- Knowledge of health and safety and COSHH procedures is desirable.
